Company Profile

MIO Partners, Inc. (McKinsey Investment Office)

Company Overview

MIO Partners, Inc. (“MIO”), the investment management subsidiary or “family office” of McKinsey & Company, Inc. (“McKinsey” or “the Firm”) manages a multi-billion dollar portfolio of assets for the Firm, its partners, former partners, and employees. Assets are invested in a broad range of traditional and alternative asset strategies, principally with third-party managers. MIO implements investments in three main forms: fund-of-funds investing, separately managed accounts, and direct trades (which are mostly macro-oriented, derivatives-based trades). We also have a Client Service & Advisory team that helps the Firm’s partners with accessing our investment products and constructing overall portfolios to suit their individual needs.

Our mission is to enhance the long-term wealth of our investors, and one of our core values is to put the interests of our investors ahead of our own. As a result, we only create and/or offer products and services to our investors that we truly believe adds material value to their long-term wealth. Unlike other asset managers, we have no mandate to build assets under management or enterprise value. In addition, we only manage assets for and advise McKinsey related clients; we do not accept outside or third-party investments.

MIO is a 120-person organization, with team members principally located in New York, and with small presences in London, Munich, and Singapore. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of McKinsey, but our activities are kept entirely separate to those of the Firm.
