Junior Discretionary Trader - London or New York

My client is a global investment management firm running a diversified set of systematic and quantitative strategies across global markets, with additional discretionary trading where opportunities cannot be fully automated. The firm is highly technology- and data-driven, building its own trading platforms, research systems, and large-scale compute infrastructure, and operates with a globally integrated, collaborative model.

They are looking to hire recent graduates to join their Discretionary Trading team. As a Junior Discretionary Trader, you will work closely with senior traders, supporting daily portfolio management, monitoring risk, hedging, and trade execution. You'll collaborate with quantitative researchers and gain exposure across Equities, Commodities, Rates/FX, Credit, and Volatility, developing skills in research, portfolio construction, risk management, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Support senior traders in evaluating and managing trading opportunities
• Monitor portfolios, produce P&L and risk reporting
• Assist with hedging and trade execution, including complex or illiquid trades
• Collaborate with quantitative research teams to enhance trading decisions

Requirements

• Recent or upcoming graduate in a quantitative or technical discipline
• Strong analytical and communication skills; comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Programming ability required (Python strongly preferred)
